Teaching,
Training & Supervision

From undergraduate surgery students to doctoral candidates — and from hospital workshops to international certificate programmes. Good teaching is never accidental. It is designed, assessed, and constantly improved.

Philosophy

Teaching as Scholarship

I have taught surgery and health professions education at every level — from undergraduate MBBS students encountering the ward for the first time, to doctoral candidates designing research that will shape institutional policy. The common thread is a conviction that good teaching is never accidental. It is designed, assessed, and constantly improved.

My own doctoral research at Maastricht University was shaped by a simple question: why do carefully designed medical curricula fail in practice? That question drives not just my research, but my classroom. I bring to every teaching engagement the same rigour I apply to scholarship: clear objectives, evidence-based methods, meaningful feedback, and honest evaluation.

Through CorTeach and the Certificate in Health Professions Education (CHPE), I have helped hundreds of clinicians become more effective, reflective, and evidence-informed educators. This is the work I believe matters most.

Supervision & Mentorship

I supervise MHPE students at the University of Warwick, UK and co-supervise PhD candidates at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Within Pakistan, I have supervised and examined numerous MHPE and PhD dissertations across Riphah International University and affiliated institutions.

Prospective supervisees should have a clear research question in one of my primary areas of interest: assessment science, curriculum viability, AI in medical education, or faculty development. I work best with students who are self-directed, methodologically curious, and committed to producing scholarship of international standard.
